About the Event
Centre for Non-communicable Diseases and Nutrition (CNCDN), BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health (JPGSPH), BRAC University, hosted a Policy Advisory Board (PAB) meeting at BRAC Tower, Mohakhali, Dhaka.
The meeting is part of the project "The Impact of Climate Change on Nutrition and Cardiometabolic Disease in Bangladesh: Catalysing Policy Action"; implemented by BRAC JPGSPH in collaboration with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), USA, the National Heart Foundation of Bangladesh (NHFB), and the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT).
The PAB is a formal, multi-sectoral platform bringing together policymakers, academics, researchers, public health professionals, and representatives from national and international organisations. Together, the Board works to map the pathways linking climate change to nutrition and cardiometabolic risk - and to co-design policies for diets that are healthy, equitable, and climate-resilient, grounded in both existing data and new evidence.
Laura J. Reichenbach, Dean, BRAC JPGSPH, opened the meeting with a welcome address. Prof. Lindsey S.Taillie, Prof. Malay Kanti Mridha, Prof. Nazma Shaheen, and Dr Ali Ahsan presented the project and led discussions on policy priorities.A productive conversation and an important step toward evidence-informed action.
