SHINE Annual Consortium Meeting 2026: Reflecting, Planning and Building a Lasting Legacy

About the Event

The five-day SHINE Annual Consortium Meeting 2026 brought together partners from BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health (BRAC JPGSPH), LVCT Health, the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC), and the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM).

During the first three days in Dhaka, partners reviewed SHINE’s Theory of Change, assessed its progress and reflected on evidence and implementation experiences across countries. Updates from PhD candidates and rapid-fire research presentations highlighted emerging findings and outputs. The consortium also developed a three-month close-out and deliverables tracker covering manuscripts, reports, conferences, data archiving, policy engagement and creative outputs. Discussions explored opportunities for a special issue, cross-country writing groups and synthesis papers.Partners then developed the SHINE Legacy Framework, identifying ways to sustain the project’s learning, tools and approaches and continue supporting community health workers beyond the project period.

For the final two days, the team travelled to Barishal, where partners engaged with community health workers and community members, experienced SHINE’s popular theatre component and visited a community clinic. The visit offered an opportunity to reflect on how the project’s research and co-development processes have translated into practice. Across five days and two cities, the meeting reaffirmed the consortium’s shared commitment to strengthening the well-being, agency and support systems of community health workers.
